ORDINANCE 2/10/1998

AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION OF 8-21 OF THE
GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE TOWN OF KENTLAND

WHEREAS, General Ordinance No.228 as enacted by the Board of Trustees in 1958, and as codified as Section 8-21 of the General Ordinances of the Town of Kentland in July 1983, regulates the parking on public streets within the Town of Kentland; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to amend Ordinance 8-21 to further restrict parking in the area of Dunlap Street between 3rd and 2nd Streets to allow parking areas for people with official business for the Town Hall; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council deems it necessary to limit the parking of motor vehicles on Dunlap Street in the area of the Kentland Town Hall to a period of not more than 1 hour (sixty minutes) during regular business hours to insure that those with official business have adequate parking.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it duly ordained as follows: Section 8-21 subsection (e) of the General Ordinances for the Town Of Kentland limiting the parking of vehicles on Dunlap Street Between 3rd and 2nd Streets is hereby added and shall read as follows:

(e) Parking on Dunlap Streets Between 3rd and 2nd Streets Limited to 1 hour:

(1) Parking is deemed legal on Dunlap Street traveling west from Third Street on the north side of Dunlap where vehicles shall be parked at a 30 degree angle. The first four spaces in this area, farthest to the east shall be deemed as limited parking spaces for Town Hall Business.

(2) Parking In these four spaces shall be limited to no longer than 1 hour (sixty minutes) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

(3) These designated parking spaces shall be posted with a sign indicating the parking restrictions.

This amendment to Ordinance 8-21 shall become effective immediately after publication In the Newton County Enterprise for a period of two (2) successive weeks.

All of which is duly ordained this 10th day of February, 1998.
